Cherrie Thompson Bio MEET THE REAL CHERRIE THOMPSON
While traveling to Nepal on a mission trip, Cherrie got a first hand look at how organizations were working to assist victims of human trafficking. While there, she taught courses to young seminarians of Crossway Church and orphans at The Abba House Orphanage that helped raise their awareness of their own sexuality as well as sexual predators. She visited with Purnaa, an ethical garment manufacturer in Nepal that not only employs victims of trafficking but are also “committed to fostering and maintaining a safe and dignified work place; creating an atmosphere where employees have a voice; and working toward the continuous growth of each person.” And she spent time with the owners of Higher Ground in Kathmandu Nepal, a group whose vision is to fight poverty and provide work, education, business development skills and safe spaces for victims of human trafficking.

“Life has no purpose unless I am able to give back. I have always had an interest in social issues and community service and giving back has been an integral part of my life.” Cherrie has always been committed to engaging in projects that involve disadvantaged children, women, and victims of human trafficking. Having completed a master’s degree in Human Rights and Social Justice at Rice University in Houston, she wrote a final paper that focused on human trafficking and offered solutions for getting it under control.

Cherrie passionately believes that if we all chip in to help make the tiniest difference, we can help to make the world a wonderful, safe place that we can all enjoy.

Brittany Thompson

Born in Austin Texas, Brittany had no choice but to tag along with her parents at a young age. Whether they were living in San Francisco or traveling around the country or to their beloved Barbados, she willingly went along for the ride. Now, she is just as much an avid traveler as they are.

But music was her first love. She begun playing the violin when she was 7 years old, and enjoyed stints with the Kerr High School Orchestra, Infinity Strings Quartet and the Houston Youth Symphony. She also got the opportunity to play along with the Houston Symphony.

After leaving Houston for four years to attend undergraduate studies at Baylor University in Waco Tx, she returned to Houston to attend the University of Houston’s Law center where she recently graduated as a Juris Doctor. Upon graduation, her mother impressed upon her to join Made in the Shade Blinds & More of Greater Houston to help grow the family business. Brittany has been learning the window coverings business from the ground up.

“I thoroughly enjoy working with my mum! She is a wonderful mentor and she has an excellent work ethic. When there is something that needs to get done, she is relentless and will not stop until she sees it through to the end. I especially enjoy going out with her to meet with clients and show them products. Her effervescence is infectious and I am truly in awe when I see how she works with clients to please them. She’s strong, capable and in charge, and this truly inspires me.”
